Carlina started with the Community Center for Education Results as a Family Engagement. Carlina began to work with the Community Center for Education Results as a Family Engagement Coordinator 11 years ago, working to build a robust family engagement system for the region. She now serves as Deputy Director and supports the Family and Community Engagement and Research Impact team. Carlina has been passionate about parent leadership and engagement work for over 30 years. She began by serving on the policy council of the largest Head Start grant west of the Mississippi River in Denver. Carlina has since been recognized by the Obama administration as a Champion for Change by the White House through her work with the Rainier Beach High School Parent-Teacher-Student Association. She continues to be deeply committed to building equity in education systems. Originally from Denver, Carlina is the mother of seven children, ranging from 17 to 36 years old, and has three grandsons and one granddaughter.
